At restaurant level, only the center section revolves; window tables offer a better, if stationary, view. On a clear day you can see downtown Minneapolis. The Minnesota view inspires the cuisine--lots of walleye and wild rice. But this isn't supper-club fare: The walleye comes pecan-battered; the salads include a sophisticated blending of greens, chicken, wild rice and cranberry sauce; and specials have included Minnesota-grown ostrich. The menu also features plenty of steak, shrimp and salmon. |

Kincaid's
380 St Peter St
St Paul, MN 55102-7700
Phone: (651) 602-9000 |
Grab a cozy and comfy booth or a window table looking out on Landmark Center. The view inside isn't bad, with frosted glass above dark-wood booths, shiny brass, bar, sandstone and marble. You'll see Lawson employees, St. Paul movers and shakers, St. Paul wanna-be movers and shakers, and folks celebrating anniversaries and birthdays. The menu remains basically true to the original Bloomington Kincaid's--except for the specials, which allow the chef some creative sparkle. |

Lo-To
380 Jackson St
St Paul, MN 55413
Phone: (651) 209-7776 |
Located in the heart of downtown St. Paul's burgeoning Lowertown (hence the name), LoTo has the wide-open feeling of the artsy lofts that are making this neighborhood hot. Look for contemporary American classics--New York strip, beef stew, lobster bisque--with special sides like LoTo Mash and LoTo kettle chips. The desserts are in the bakery (flourless chocolate cake with cappuccino butter cream), and the bar serves a Minnesota Manhattan, made with vodka instead of bourbon. |

Mickey's Diner
36 Seventh St W
St Paul, MN 55102-1129
Phone: (651) 222-5633 |
The 24-hour art deco red-and-cream dining car has been around since the 1930s and has lent its image to calendars, postcards and movies. Waitresses are here to get you fed, not to make small talk. Neighborhood regulars to folks stopping in for late-night or early-morning snacks fill the stainless steel and mahogany interior for greasy burgers and fries. Nostalgic diners go for mulligan stew and bean soup made from pre-World War II recipes |

St. Paul Grill
350 Market St
St Paul, MN 55102
Phone: (651) 224-7455 |
Located in the historic and posh Saint Paul Hotel, the Grill is high-energy. It's popular with the dressed-up pre-theater crowd, and a gathering spot for political powers-that-be. First-time visitors should peek inside the hotel's fancy lobby (circa 1910) before stepping into the dining room's moneyed atmosphere--mahogany woodwork, gleaming brass, booths topped with frosted-glass partitions and tables set with heavy linens. The standard grill offerings include beef tenderloin and the signature bourbon pork chops. |

Eagle Street Grill
174 W Seventh St
St Paul, MN 55102
Phone: (651) 225-1382 |
The exposed brick walls, wood floors, snug booths, and vintage light fixtures are Pottery Barn-chic, and a huge mural serving as an homage to St. Paul's prohibition days decorates the dining room. Birthday revelers and after-work friends pack the bar's small tables for local microbrews. The restaurant aspires to be an elegant dining room for dishes like beef tenderloin with portobellos and Merlot sauce, and rib eye with a spicy brown-sugar glaze while bar appetizers and desserts stick to homespun basics like deep-fried Twinkies. |

Great Waters
Brewing Company
426 St Peter St
St Paul, MN 55102-1105
Phone: (651) 224-2739 |
With pale walls, unremarkable tables and chairs, and a few paintings, it's pretty bare--but you probably didn't come for the decor. Most folks are here to relax with beer brewed on site or to nosh before an Xcel Energy Center event. Appetizers include spicy black bean quesadillas and a pâté plate with zippy black bean and hummus spreads. For lunch, there's Reuben and chicken, apple and Brie sandwiches. Dinner features pork chops and London broil. |
